Presented by Tura New Music
Join Tura for adventures in sound as they present the 2017 Scale Variable New Chamber Music Series. Tura is at the forefront in new music and the sonic arts in Western Australia.
The four concert series features new chamber music from Western Australia and around the world, and is the perfect opportunity to explore the new and unexpected from composers of the modern era. Witness the high energy and virtuosity of international and local ensembles, such as GreyWing, Intercurrent and Soundstorm, as they bring these new works to life.
The Series begins in May with a landmark performance at the Subiaco Arts Centre from Russia’s foremost contemporary chamber music artists, the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, consisting of some of the best Russian musicians specialising in modern music.
Experience concerts 2 and 3 in Studio Underground at the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia for an up-close look and listen to locally-based new music collectives; GreyWing, led by composer/performer Lindsay Vickery, and Intercurrent, curated by leading WA-based musicians Louise Devenish, Lachlan Skipworth and Ashley Smith. They will share programs of works from local, national and international composers performed by a cross section of specialist Perth based performers.
The final concert in November, set in Rehearsal Room 1 at the State Theatre Centre of WA, sees the return of Soundstorm curated by Polish-born composer Dominik Karski.
