To the strains of “Burlington Bertie” we explore a bygone age of male impersonators – a time when Ella Shields, Hettie King, Vesta Tilley, Nellie Kolle and Perth’s own Effie Fellows strutted the stage in top hat and tails.
From there it’s a short strut to the Principal Boy of Pantomine. In an intriguing array of images we see young ladies of varying shapes and sizes, bedecked in jewelled jerkins, swirling capes and high heeled boots, posing as the hero in Cinderella, Mother Goose and Jack and the Beanstalk.
P.S. The Pantomine Dame gets a look in, too!
